SHERMAN, TX -- A Cartwright man and woman accused of stealing a diamond ring from a Texoma business are now in jail, but not before the woman swallowed the stolen loot. After waiting and watching for more than 24 hours, Sherman Police have now recovered that ring.

A Sherman pawn shop employee spotted the couple around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon and followed them until police arrived at the Save-A-Lot grocery store on Texoma Parkway.

That employee confirmed they were the suspects who stole the ring. Police identified them as 48-year-old Dale Fields and 40-year-old Ingrid Woods, both of Cartwright, Oklahoma.

When police couldn't find the ring, they suspected Woods had swallowed it. She was taken to Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, and an x-ray revealed Woods had in fact ingested the jewelry.

Both Fields and Woods were arrested and booked into the Grayson County Jail.

UPDATE: After waiting and watching for more than 24 hours, Sherman Police have now "recovered" that ring..

Woods faces charges of theft of property under $20,000 and tampering or fabricating evidence with intent to impair. She remains in the Grayson County Jail on $15,000 bond. Fields was arrested by Sherman P.D. for theft of property under $20,000. He was released after posting bond on Thursday.
