Bryan Co., OK - The man-hunt for 44-year-old Linston Guilbeau ended Saturday around 5:30 p.m. A Bokchito family aided in the capture by holding the suspect at gun point until police arrived.

Police say Guilbeau led two Durant Police officers on a chase last night around 2:00 a.m., when one of the officers crashed into a tree during the pursuit. The other officer then unintentionally rear-ended Guilbeau’s vehicle. The suspect fled the scene on foot, leaving both officers injured.

Starting early this morning, OHP and Durant Police searched for Guilbeau on foot with blood hounds and by helicopter in an area east of Durant. It was at the end of that search that residents spotted Guilbeau.

"The man came walking up across our pasture here, my brother in laws pasture, said he was lost and looking for a ride... and one of the guys recognized him," said Ronald Williams, one of the men who caught Guilbeau.

The men realized that the stranger was run-away suspect Linston Guilbeau; they had been warned to be on the look-out for him, as a ground search was underway in their area around 5 Does Road and Green Acres earlier today.

"In the mean time we called the police and when we came back outside, there were three of us that came back outside, we put him on the ground, and we had a gun. We pulled a gun on him and (had) no problems," explained Williams.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Durant Police responded to the call.

"They stayed on the phone until we could get units in this area, so with the citizens’ help we were able to make the capture," said OHP Trooper Steve Nabors.

Williams says they didn't hesitate when they realized who Guilbeau was, and wanted to make sure he didn’t get away again.

"He knew he was caught and he knew he was in trouble so he went down and didn't give us any trouble,” said Williams. “He kept wanting to move around and we said no he had to stay there, and he wanted to know why he was down, and we said the police will let you know that when they get here."

OHP Troopers, Bryan County Sheriff's Office, Durant Police and U.S. Marshals rushed to William's brother-in-law’s residence on Green Acres Road when they got the call, eager to get Guilbeau in custody.

"Everybody was diligent in their effort on this to make a capture as quickly as possible and we're fortunate enough to have him in custody right now,” said Nabors.

And for Williams and his family, the decision to detain Guilbeau was an easy one.

“It was just one of those things we knew something we had to do, so we did it," said Williams.

Trooper Nabors says they are happy the search ended as quickly as it did.

"I think everybody is relieved to have this over and we can move on and let these officers that are injured hopefully get better quick," said Nabors.

Guilbeau is now in the Bryan County jail. He is also wanted on charges out of Arkansas and will be held for those as well. His case will be handed over to the District Attorney's office on Monday.

One of the injured officers remains at Parkland Hospital in Dallas in stable condition; his name has not been released yet. The other office, Wesley Crank, was treated for back injuries at a local hospital and later released.
