2-27-04 - A portion of Highway 82 in Lamar County was shutdown Friday morning after a semi truck leaked chemicals from its load onto the highway. A DPS trooper pulled the driver of the tractor trailer rig over near the town of Toco about 7:30 am. After finding the leak they shutdown a 500 ft. portion of the highway until hazmat crews could determine the identity of the chemical. Authorities say a 5 gallon container had fallen over inside the truck and began leaking. Crews later determined that chemical was contaminated diesel fuel. The highway was reopened about three hours later.
