Near Miss at Tioga Bus Stop Angers Police

2-12-04 - A close call at an area bus stop has Tioga police making extra patrol after school lets out.

On Monday, a 7th grader was nearly run down as he stepped off a bus that was stopped outside his home. A blue dodge pick-up tried to pass the bus on the shoulder.

Luckily, the bus driver pulled the boy back just in time, but the pick-up kept going. Police says it’s a recurring problem on highway 377 in town, where drivers often ignore flashing lights from school buses.

The town only has one officer on duty during that time of the day, but he is now following buses to make sure drivers obey.
