Bonham voters will elect mayor for first time

Voters in Bonham now have their chance to choose their mayor, thanks to changes in the city charter.

Mayor Roy Floyd says he will run for a third term.

Previously, it was the decision of the council members who would lead the city.

Floyd says the charter revision is a refreshing change.

"Bonham has been good to me. I've been with Bonham for about thirty years, and I want to give back to Bonham. I always have, and I've tried to be Bonham's best booster, and I think I've done that successfully and, I want to continue to do it."

Early voting is scheduled to begin April 16 for the May 12 election.
