Grayson Co., TX - Cities across the area took part in Texoma Night Out this evening. Texoma Night Out is a yearly crime-prevention program centered around town or neighborhood block parties.
And the idea is to stamp out crime in local communities. As part of the event, a caravan of patrol cars and officers from towns across Grayson County wound its way to various cities. It’s title the Unity Caravan and began at noon on Saturday and ran until 9:00 p.m. that night.
Southmayd mayor Daniel Pepe says Texoma Night Out is important, because it forges relationships between neighbors and law enforcement.
"It's all about getting out in the community meeting our local law enforcement and working together to keep our streets safe keep our streets safe and stay together in unity," said Mayor Pepe
Texoma Night Out is similar to National Night Out, as both encourage neighborhood safety, crime and drug prevention. This year’s National Night Out happened back in August.
