Van Alstyne school improvements go to voters

03-07-07 Superintendent Alan Seay says two issues are set for a referendum in May.

One proposal calls for eight million dollars for campus improvements.

The district is also asking for another five and a half million dollars to build a new stadium.

Those bonds would call for a tax rate increase of up to ten percent.
Despite the steep hike, Seay says the bonds are desperately needed.

"We want our kids to be proud of their facilities we want them to be proud whenever they walk into their classrooms, into their libraries, the cafeteria, and their stadiums. we want them to be proud of that, " said Van Alstyne Superintendent Dr. Alan Seay.

Those referendums are scheduled to go to Van Alstyne voters on May 12th.
