KINGSTON, OK – Kingston Public Schools began giving out the H1N1 vaccine in FluMist form to their students Thursday morning.
Kingston has had at least one confirmed case of the swine flu and says it has averaged about a 15 to 20 percent drop in attendance because of sickness since late September.
Superintendent Jay McAdams says Thursday's vaccinations were first-come, first served. McAdams says the school was allotted 600 doses-- 300 for the elementary school and 300 for middle and high school students.
Martha Hagood, a nurse for the Marshall County Health Department, says they vaccinated 357 students by noon, and those who took it responded well to the nasal spray vaccination.
"I didn't see anyone that kind of resisted you know when you try to give a child a shot a lot of times they kind of hold back all of the children have been really good," Hagood said.
Hagood says there are less than 250 doses left. She says they will probably be picked up Friday and be distributed to another county.
