"I'm all for improving our education," says Todd Ford, a Bonham I.S.D. parent.
Ford says he's for the Bonham ISD bond election as long as it will really benefit the education of his three children.
Monday night he and others attended the 4th and final meeting held by school leaders.

"We're just here to share information about the upcoming bond election," says Sonny Cruse, Bonham I.S.D. Superintendent.

Cruse says the bond is needed to make several improvements to Finley-Oates Elementary, I.W Evans Intermediate, L.H. Rather Junior High School, and Bonham High School.

"It's the only way to do these projects. There's not another way for the school to generate the funds than ask the community to do a bond election. We have a little over a three million dollar fund balance. You don't do a lot of construction with three million dollars," says Cruse.

Cruse says one of the departments that could see improvement from the bond is the Band.
Band Director Blake Edmondson says the size of the Warrior Band has outgrown the current facility in both the high school and middle school.

"I mean we're pretty cramped in here," says Edmondson.

Cruse says the bond would also improve other facilities, such as new gymnasiums at the schools and science labs at the junior high to name a few. Cruse also notes that the changes aren't because Bonham is booming with growth.

"It's to provide adequate facilities for our current students and those students we're going to have over the next 5, 10, 15 years," says Cruse.

He says the changes will enhance the educational environment for all of the students.
And Cruse says for those who disagree...

"If you come walk through our buildings you're going to realize there needs to be a plan developed to improve our existing facilities."

For a 50-thousand dollar home the increased tax to cover the bond payment will cost tax payers an extra 12-dollars per month.
Cruse says if the bond doesn't pass the district will have to purchase more portable buildings.
Election day is November 3rd.
Early voting starts Monday October 18th.
