Shoplifter threatens store employees with knife in Durant
DURANT, OK -- A shoplifting incident quickly became a robbery and assault at the Durant Wal-Mart over the weekend. Police say 35-year-old William Jagger had been caught shoplifting several items by loss prevention when he brandished a knife and demanded they let him go.

DURANT, OK -- A shoplifting incident quickly became a robbery and assault at the Durant Wal-Mart over the weekend. Police say 35-year-old William Jagger had been caught shoplifting several items by loss prevention when he brandished a knife and demanded they let him go.
Durant Police say around 1 p.m. Sunday loss prevention employees at Wal-Mart observed a man shoplifting several items. When employees confronted Jagger in the store’s loss prevention office, he pulled out a large knife and began swinging it at them, and demanded they open the door so he could escape.
Jagger took off in a field behind the store, as the employees followed at a safe distance. Durant police officers then caught up to him, and were forced to draw their weapons before he finally dropped the knife.
Jagger was arrested on several charges, including resisting an officer, robbery, and three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was booked into the Bryan County Jail.
