Healdton welcomes new police chief
HEALDTON, OK -- Healdton police officers welcomed a brand new chief this week. Arriving in one of the station's brand new patrol cars, newly appointed police chief Guss Handke reported to work Friday afternoon for one of his first days on the job.

HEALDTON, OK -- Healdton police officers welcomed a brand new chief this week.
Arriving in one of the station's brand new patrol cars, newly appointed police chief Guss Handke reported to work Friday afternoon for one of his first days on the job.
Handke, who originally hails from Minco, replaces former police chief Ted Montgomery who left earlier this year. Handke says he's aware of some complaints against the department, but is looking forward to getting it back on track.
"This community in the past has had some issues I understand. That's prior to me, I don't care about those things, those things are done. We're going to move forward and do what we need to do, and this place is going to be a good place to work and live," Handke says.
Chief Handke expects the Healdton Police Department to be back up to full speed by the beginning of 2010.
