Ada Coach Leaving for Texas Again

(Ada, Oklahoma-AP) -- Longtime Ada High School football coach
Larry McBroom is leaving Oklahoma after leading Ada to seven state
titles and nearly 200 wins in 20 years.
McBroom resigned yesterday to become coach at Mount Pleasant
High School in Northeast Texas.
His departure will leave Ada with a coach not named McBroom for
the first time since 1972. McBroom, his father and his brother have
coached the Cougars for 43 of the past 45 years.
McBroom won 199 games in two separate stints with the Cougars
from 1980 to '95 and 2000 until last season.
Ada Superintendent Zane Bowman says Steve Dean will replace
McBroom. Dean has been an assistant on McBroom's staff for eight
seasons.
McBroom took over for his father, Craig McBroom, who coached Ada
to six state titles and 157 wins. Craig McBroom coached the Cougars
from 1959 to 1970 and 1973 through '79.
McBroom's brother, Gary McBroom, led Ada from 1996 to '99 while
his brother was coaching in Weatherford, Texas.
