POTTSBORO, TX -- Pottsboro Press Publisher Frank Alvarez told KXII on the phone the printing of an ad in the newspaper was a mistake. The ad printed at the bottom of page P5 is supposed to be an anti-drug public service announcement, but contains several profanities.
The 'S' and 'F' words are printed more than once in the ad, placed in the lower right hand corner of page 5 in the October 15th edition of the paper, which brands itself as "the conservative voice of Grayson" under its masthead.
Alvarez says it was simply a mistake and the profanity was accidentally overlooked. He says they receive these ads by e-mail all the time, and has worked with the company who sent in this particular ad several times before with no problem.
But that's not enough for parents KXII talked to.
"They should punish the person that published that,” said Deana Steele, a Pottsboro mother.
"How could you overlook something like that?” said Kristie Lane, a Pottsboro mother.
Alvarez says the paper will issue an apology in the next edtion which comes out this Thursday.
