04-01-04 - Employees at the Sherman Procter & Gamble plant learned this morning that the Sunny Delight juice drink line has been sold. However, the majority of employees will get to keep their jobs with the new owner.
A Boston based private equity firm, J.W. Childs Associates, purchased the juice line. In a press release issued this morning by P & G the company says employees jobs are not in jeopardy. "The transaction enables the vast majority of our employees currently in the juice-based drink businesses to have continued employment." J.W. Childs Associates will operate Sundor Brands, Inc. under the name of the Sunny Delight Beverages Company, and will continue to operate in the Sherman Folgers building.
