Ardmore, OK - Spectators got one last look at some show stopping horses in Ardmore today. Riders started rolling in as early as last weekend to the coliseum get ready for some fierce competition in this year’s show.

Contestants competed in several different categories throughout the week. And the entire time judges kept not only a close eye on the esthetic appearance of the animal but how well each maneuver is performed by the horse and its rider.

Contestants that can pull off the close to perfect routine will put themselves in the running for some huge cash prizes. Competitors say it requires a strong dedication to ride in events like this one.

Officials say at this level most of these riders have spent their lives not only raising but, training these horses for competition.

"I raise my own horses and train and show my own horses this horse is in a line of horses that I've raised train and showed and this is the only second time that I've shown him,” said competitor Jim Morgan.

The event is put on the by the Southwest Reiming Horse association as well as several venders who sold anything from knick knacks with southern charm to fancy leather saddles for those true enthusiasts.

Through the decades of memorable shows the organization has developed a strong partnership with the city of Ardmore.

"Over the years we've grown into a huge national futurity, and we've grown with the Hardy Murphy Coliseum and because they kept improving things to meet our needs,” said Jack Covington at the show.
