3-19-04 - Two men survived cold waters after clinging to their capsized boat for 90 minutes in Lake Fannin Friday. A farmer spotted the men about 200 yards from shore just before noon. Apparently, they were trying to work on the motor of the 16 foot sailboat when it up-ended. Rescuers say if Timothy Metcalf and Kenneth Havens had spent any more time in the 60 degree water, they might have suffered serious health problems. Bonham EMS and Fannin County deputies used a boat to pull the men from the water. One man did show signs of hypothermia and was sent to Northeast Medical Center for treatment and observation.
