4-15-04 - For the second time in two months, John Beene is resigning from his position in the Ardmore police department, but this time he’s leaving the force altogether. The Assistant Police Chief will finish his 18 years on the force next Friday.
Beene was promoted to chief last year, but stepped down from that spot earlier this year, citing stress and a desire to return to his old position. But Thursday, Beene said it’s time for a permanent change. He’s taking a position with the Valero Refinery in Ardmore.
City officials say the move comes as a surprise, especially since they’re already in the midst of a search for a new police chief. As of right now, City Manager Dan Parrot does not have a timetable as to when the city will begin a search for a new assistant chief.
