JOHNSTON COUNTY, OK -- One man was taken to an Oklahoma City Hospital with critical injuries after a one car accident just east of Mannsville.

It happened around 3 p.m. on U.S. Highway 177 just east of Turkey Creek Bridge in Johnston County. OHP troopers tell us 48-year-old William Rushing of Marietta lost control of his Jeep Cherokee, running off the road and slamming into a tree.

Emergency responders at the scene say Rushing suffered from critical internal injuries, and was pinned in the vehicle for more than an hour.

Troopers believe alcohol and an unsafe rate of speed contributed to the accident. Highway 177 was shut down for about two hours, but is now reopened.
