Tuesday was Election Day for two public schools asking their communities to pass school bonds. Thackerville and Fox were both pushing bond propositions, but neither measure achevied the super majority needed to pass.

Thackerville Schools asked residents to approve a more than $5 million bond, but the issue failed. While a majority of voters voted yes, it did not reach the 60% super majority necessary to pass.

The Love County Election Board tells us only 57% of voters checked yes, and more than 42% voted no.

It's a similar story for the Fox Public Schools, their $250,000 bond also failed. Again while the majority of residents approved the measure, the proposition did not get the 60% super majority needed to pass.

The Carter County Election Board tells us more than 55% of voters said yes, but it wasn't enough, 44% of voters checked no.

Voting officials in Love County tell us the turn out was pretty good today, but say they’re always encouraging more people to come out and vote.

We spoke to the Thackerville Superintendent David Herron via phone, but he declined an interview. Herron says he appreciates the voters who came out and showed their support for the Thackerville Schools, but now it's simply back to the drawing board.

Our calls to the Fox Schools Superintendent have not been returned. The Fox Schools were hoping their bond issue would pass to pay off the new high school roof.
