4-27-04 - Former Congressman Wes Watkins is facing two misdemeanor counts of negligent homicide for his involvement in a deadly car accident last Monday.

Payne County District Attorney Rob Hudson filed the charges today for the deaths of Brian and Ardith Cullen of Stillwater. The Cullen’s were killed when Watkins van pushed their car into on coming traffic along US 177.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Watkins failed to devote his full time and attention to driving. Watkins faces up to a year in the county jail on each charge, but the District Attorney’s Office says it’s doubtful they will seek jail time.
