04-28-04 - Fire Chief Robert Lewis will get to keep his job after allegations of sexual harassment.
Van Alstyne Mayor Willie Boddie decided to suspend Lewis without pay for 30 days. The decision was to be made in a special meeting on Friday, but the resignation of councilman Ted Moore meant the council could not meet a quorum and the meeting had to be cancelled. The city also decided to reorganize the fire department and ambulance services; both will now answer to Police Chief Robert Spindle. He was named the new Director of Public Safety.
