DICKSON, Okla. -- This morning’s ride to school caused a scare for some Dickson middle school students.
The bus was heading west down Highway 70 when, for some unknown reason, a Chevy Trailblazer rammed it from behind near Dogwood Road.
The driver of the SUV, Rebecca Matchen, 31, of Madill, was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital with head injuries in serious condition.
Thirty-three students were on board the bus. Five were taken to Mercy Memorial where they were treated and released.
"The kids were shaken up, but when we got on scene we calmed them down and made them comfortable," said OHP Trooper Casey Hall.
Troopers say the bus driver, Sherri Blancett, did an excellent job of maintaining control. If she hadn't, the bus could have flipped over in the ditch.
