Dividing revenue between fire departments

By  |

Carter County Commissioners and Fire Chiefs are working together to decide how to divy up proceeds from the quarter cent sales tax increase

Voters passed the sales tax in July to support the 14 fire departments in the county.

The first check equaled about $157,000. The money is intended for new equipment and training, but commissioners say it will not necessarily be divided equally. It will be distributed on an as-needed basis.
