DURANT, Okla. -- As spring rolls around, so too annually does the Durant Magnolia Festival.
The festival committee held their annual kick off on Tuesday.
Chairman Jim Dunegan announced that the festival will be held on Market Square this year, featuring activities for kids during the day, and live music and entertainment at night.
Twenty to thirty thousand people come to the 'magnolia city' for the annual celebration.
This year it will also go on for an extra day, in honor of the states 100th birthday.
"We're very excited because it's good for business owners in this area. It brings a lot of business that's certainly good for the restaurants and motels and people who have retail businesses. It's a big weekend for Durant," said festival chairman Jim Dunegan.
This is the eleventh annual Magnolia Festival. The event starts Thursday, May 31st, at noon, and continues through Saturday evening.
