4-29-04 - In every community there are neighborhoods with more crime than others. But a new shift in Ardmore is stopping criminals in their tracks. Known as the 4th Shift, officers say it worked again last night.
Police arrested Antoine Ash, after they saw him toss a bag of crack cocaine while they approached him.
The idea behind the 4th Shift is to target high-crime neighborhoods with an increased police presence. It puts three more police officers on the streets during night hours. And so far, residents like the results. The team has already made contact with 32 people they believe may have a hand in drugs. There have also been no reports of auto burglaries and only one report of home burglaries in entire city since the shift began this month.
