Ada Police Car Stolen, Recovered

05-02-04 - A car thief made off with quite a catch Sunday morning. This was no ordinary car theft; the thief stole an Ada police cruiser! But he didn't get far, pulling over and falling asleep along the side of the road in Pauls Valley.

Police say the car was stolen between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Forrest Road in Ada. There were no signs of forced entry, which leads investigators to believe the keys might have been left inside.

The suspect, 21-year-old Justin Keith Taylor is in police custody in Pauls Valley. Police believe he might have tried to steal a relative's car earlier in the night and was unsuccessful.

According to a Pauls Valley police report, the suspect told police some friends had dared him to take the car and he planned on driving it to Sulphur. He also reportedly told officers he had used the vehicle's emergency lights and sirens.

Taylor has been charged with auto theft.
