John Markl 1,057

Sherman Mayor Bill Magers was elected to another term as Sherman Mayor Saturday night. Unofficial election results released after 11 p.m. show Magers with 1,344 votes. Council member John Markl received 1,057 votes.

"The people in Sherman had a choice to make. They like what we've done the past 2 years, and look forward to what we'll do in the future," Magers said.

Saturday's results cap off a long campaign process for both candidates, beginning in March. Some saw the mayoral race as the most watched election in North Texas. Despite the hype, less than 2,500 voters turned out to vote for Mayor.
