5-5-04 - A Van Alstyne murder in November of 2002 remains unsolved, but police and the family believe they’re closer to catching the killers of Mike Anderson.

The 23 year old Howe man was shot inside his pickup alongside US highway 75 on the night of November 24th. Police found the truck still idling near Van Alstyne. Anderson was on his way to work at the time.

His parents say Mike loved fishing, boating and golf – a man who they say had no enemies.

Investigators believe it was a case of mistaken identity. They think that Mike was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Van Alstyne police and the Texas Rangers have questioned dozens of witnesses and suspects and believe there is more than one person responsible for Mike's death.
Investigators won't comment on physical evidence found at the scene, but they do say tests on bullet fragments have identified what type of gun was used.
