Pit Bull Attacks Toddler

05-19-04 - Three year old Champagne Jackson is in Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth after she was attacked by a pit bull Tuesday night. The dog ripped the muscle on her left arm and broke it in three places.
The little girl was at her babysitter's home on McClain Street in Gainesville when she and several other children went next door to jump on a neighbor’s trampoline. The pit bull had been let out of the neighbor’s home and when Jackson tried to pet the dog it barked then attacked her after she tried to run away.
Jackson has already had two surgeries and is in stable condition. The pit bull was put to sleep Wednesday afternoon. Authorities are investigating whether or not to file charges against the home owner.
