DENISON, TX -- The Christmas season kicked off Thursday night in downtown Denison, where hundreds of people turned out for the annual Christmas parade.

Nearly 100 groups entered everything from animated floats, to custom cars and motorcycles, to horses.

Spectators heard from the Denison High School Band, and even got to watch dancers clog on top of a flatbed truck.

Church groups, local businesses, our friends from Toys for Tots, area firefighters and law enforcement officers, even some of our own KXII crew all took part in Thursday night's parade, and a special guest-- Santa Claus himself, made a special early visit.

We talked to some excited parade-goers about what Christmas means to them.

"Santa!"
"Christmas presents!"
"Giving out presents!"
"So we can know that Jesus was born on this day and took away our sins for us."

The Grand Prize winner of tonight's parade was Boy Scout Cub Pack 605.
First Place – Dance Xplosion
Second Place – Kiddie Kampus I & II
Car/Motorcycle – Road Kill Riders
Equestrian – Glory Riders
