Gas Prices Crimping Some Holiday Plans

5-28-04 (AP) -- Motorists are facing higher gasoline prices this
Memorial Day holiday weekend. Gas prices have reached a record dollar-93 per gallon for self-serve regular in Texas. Triple-A Texas predicts about three-point-two (M) million Texans will hit the road this weekend. Many others will fly. Officials at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport predict about 995-thousand passengers will pass through between Thursday and Tuesday. That's up 13 percent from the same period last Memorial Day weekend. About 20 miles north of Fort Worth, the Doral Tesoro Hotel and Golf Club is offering a 40 dollar "gas refund" for guests who stay at least two nights. Meanwhile, Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist has subpoenaed
records from Irving-based Exxon Mobil, Houston-based ConocoPhillips
and other oil companies. Oil company officials say they're being unfairly blamed for gas price hikes.
