Grayson Co. Commissioners hopeful State Hwy 289 ext. will open this week
SHERMAN, TX -- Grayson County Commissioners met Monday morning to discuss the completion of the Highway 289 extension project. Commissioners are hopeful that the road will be opened to traffic by the end of the week.

SHERMAN, TX -- Grayson County Commissioners met Monday morning to discuss the completion of the Highway 289 extension project. Commissioners voted to approve payment to builders from the State Highway 289 bond fund.
The completion of the road has been delayed by bad weather, and by errors made in the construction of the highway. Those problems have been repaired, and commissioners are hopeful that the road will be opened to traffic by the end of the week.
"Hopefully this road will bring jobs to the North Texas Regional Airport. That was one of the reasons we built this road was to help the airport," Precinct 4 Commissioner Gene Short said Monday.
While the completion of the road has been delayed, the project is expected to be finished under budget.
