CARTER CO., OK -- A Carter County man accused of failure to register as a sex offender, and assault and battery on a police officer, stood in front of a judge Monday.

According to Healdton police Elliott Daingkau, 48, was first picked up for public intoxication, but officers say when they were booking him into the Healdton City Jail he became belligerent and hit an officer in the back with his fist.

Then when officials ran the man's record, they discovered he's a convicted sex offender, but has not registered with the state.

As of Monday night, Daingkau remains behind bars at the Carter County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
