City Honors Founder, Veterans

5-29-04- Colonel William Savoy was a Civil War veteran who founded the city of Savoy in Grayson County. Today, several generations of his family were on hand for the dedication of a wall commemorating the Savoy family history.

The wall was dedicated in the Savoy City Park Saturday as hundreds looked on while city officials presented the Savoy family with a plaque and unveiled the memorial.

Mayor Clet Stogesdill says the dedication has been five years in the making and was sponsored by the Savoy Beautification Committee.
