Nine Year Old Shot In Stomach

5-31-04 - Sherman police are investigating the shooting of a nine year old boy who was shot in the stomach by his cousin.

Police say a 12 year old boy was showing his cousin the .22 calibur rifle when it went off, shooting the nine year old in the stomach. It happened around 11:30 this morning in the 1400 block of Wells Street.

The boy was rushed to Wilson N Jones where he underwent surgery. Monday night, he was listed in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit.

Sherman police are still investigating the shooting, but they believe it was accidental. So far, no word on whether or not charges will be filed.
