Man suspected of New Year's car thefts in custody in Durant
DURANT, OK - The man Durant police believe is responsible for a series of car thefts New Year's Weekend is now behind bars in Bryan County.

DURANT, OK - The man Durant police believe is responsible for a series of car thefts New Year's Weekend is now behind bars in Bryan County.

Officers arrested 33-year-old Billy Engles on Friday after they caught him several times on surveillance video at a Mead gas station in a stolen Nissan Altima using the victim's credit card.

That car was one of two vehicles reported stolen over the holiday weekend from a business on South Ninth. The other was found badly burned on the Bryan County Fairgrounds over New Year's.

A Bryan County Commissioners' truck was also stolen, but was later recovered.

Engles was arrested and booked into the Bryan County Jail. He faces felony burglary and drug possession charges.
