GAINESVILLE TX--According to Sheriff's deputies, what began as an argument between two adults ended in tragedy for four children, and while no trace of what happened that day remains in the community of woodbine, the repercussions of those events can still be felt.

It was one year ago, when Bo Skinner and his family, returning home from a funeral, pulled up to the store they owned in Woodbine to find a truck parked out in their parking lot. Inside the vehicle, four children, covered in acid.

"I have never seen anything like that, and I never want to again, I will put it that way," said Skinner.

An argument between Cynthia Stout and her boyfriend, Tracy Escobedo, resulted in the injuries to stouts children.
Bo Skinner says he tried his best to help.

"We tried to wipe their faces off, and the skin would just come off, it turned my stomach to hear those kids screaming like that," said Skinner.

The kids were taken to Dallas area hospitals to be treated for their burns.
Cynthia Stout was arrested at the scene, Tracy Escobedo fled before police arrived.
Days later Escobedo contacted KXII, and arranged to turn himself in; our cameras were rolling when he surrendered to Sheriff's Deputies at the Cooke County Jail.

In October Stout had her day in Court.

"We tried her on the most serious of the burn cases in front of a jury, she was found guilty and sentenced to ten years in prison by that jury," said Cooke County District Attorney Janice Warder.

The Children were treated and released from the hospital; however they have been scarred for life.

"They have recovered to the extent that modern medicine can help them recover these burns are serious permanent bodily injuries," said Warder.

Tracy Escobedo will face the charges against him when his case goes to trial near the end of the month, and could be facing punishment that ranges from 5 years to life in prison.

While the role of the Criminal Justice system will soon come to an end, the effects of that day's events will not soon be forgotten.

"You think about stuff like that and you never want your kids to go through it, or even yourself," said Skinner.
