SHERMAN, TX - A proposed cap and trade bill and anti-animal antibiotics bill before Congress could mean trouble for local cattle ranchers in Grayson County.

That's why local cattlemen went before the Grayson County Commissioners Court this morning asking for a resolution against these bills. They say the cap and trade bill will increase the cost of what they produce, such as feed and diesel fuels, therefore making the already tough cattle industry even more unprofitable for local ranchers.

They say it's not a way to cut corners, but just common sense, and the commissioners agreed and accepted their letter.

"We were raised on beef, both eating it and raising it and we both been in it part time and now we're both in full time production and in Grayson County that's what you find, you find a lot of hard working people," cattle rancher Ron Pennell says.

Now the commissioners will send their resolution on to state level officials.
