SHERMAN, TX - The Grayson County Sheriff's Office released new information Thursday on an officer involved shooting in Pottsboro last week.

Randy Allen Thomas, 27, was arrested and placed in the Grayson County Jail on a warrant from Grady County, Oklahoma, as a fugitive from justice and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

On January 27, GCSO deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in Paradise Cove in Pottsboro. There, Thomas opened the door of the house and confronted officers with a gun in his hand. A responding officer whose name is not being released shot Thomas in the upper leg.

Thomas was taken into custody and treated at a local hospital. The officer involved is still on administrative leave.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office says a routine internal investigation, assisted by the Texas Rangers, is underway.

"In an officer-involved incident, usually the internal affairs of that department gets involved, and then also depending on the severity of it might call in another agency, which would be the Texas Rangers like we did in this one," Lt. David Hawley of the Grayson Co. Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Thomas remains in the Grayson County Jail on $100,000 bond.
