DURANT -- When it's 37 degrees outside, most people can't imagine jumping into an ice cold swimming pool. But that’s exactly what more than two dozen people did today in the name of a good cause.

Special Olympics Oklahoma held its first Polar Bear Plunge this morning at the new Choctaw Casino Resort.

From the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Durant Fire Department, to the Choctaw Tribal Police - more than half a dozen groups took part in the unique fundraiser. Even District Attorney Emily Redman took part in the event.

A total of 27 people took the plunge, and quickly found their way to the hot tub to thaw out.

The Polar Bear plunge has raised more $6,000 for the next Special Olympic games.
