SHERMAN TX-- With no sign of this snow stopping any time soon, TXDOT and first responders say they are ready to deal with whatever the storm brings to North Texas.

TXDOT says they know how to deal with both ice and snow on the roads, and they are prepared for whatever this storm leaves behind.

"We will have snow plows out to move off any accumulation," said Assistant Area Engineer Noel Paramanantham.
He says they will have crews working in shifts constantly monitoring conditions on the major highways, across North Texas.

"From 7 until 7, it is a constant operation until the temperature gets above freezing," said Paramanantham.

The biggest question now, is will the snow and slush freeze once the sun goes down; because with so much snow and slush on the roads, a dip in the mercury could turn streets into skating rinks.

"Right now we are just watching and waiting along with everyone else, but there is a contingency plan in place," said Sgt. Bruce Dawsey of the Sherman Police Department.
He says that both Sherman Police and Fire departments are trained to respond to emergencies in the bad weather, and to avoid them, the smartest move for residents during this cold snap is to simply stay put.

"Emergency services won’t be interrupted what so ever, but we just stress to people not to drive if at all possible,” said Dawsey.
