Game-on For Sherman Arcade

6-21-04 - The Sherman City Council gave the go-ahead to a new arcade just for teens, despite initial objections from the arcade’s neighbors.

The Hot Spot Amusement Center received its specific use permit Monday night. The business is located in the 2300 block of Travis Street, right next door to several commercial businesses and a church, some who worried that the arcade would take up valuable parking space.

But when no one showed up at the council meeting to protest, and the arcade owners showed proof they were building a new parking lot, the council voted to approve the permit. The arcade will only be open for teenagers ages 13 through 18. An open house will be held Tuesday for parents.
