Pet Charity Victim of Thieves

6-21-04 - A charity golf tournament in Fannin County this weekend fell victim to a thief. Volunteers with Friends of the Fannin County Critters had raised $800 in cash from selling mulligans during the Saturday tournament at Legacy Ridge. But by the end of the day, someone had stolen the cash from a bag.

The proceeds from the golf tournament were meant for the Critter Corner, an animal shelter in Bonham that finds homes for wayward cats and dogs. Last year’s tournament supported the shelter for six months, and volunteers were hoping it would top that this year.

Volunteers say they still made money on the tournament, but the loss of the $800 is a major setback.
