Denison, TX--Students in Denison are getting lifesaving lessons when it comes fire emergencies in their homes. Every elementary student in Denison I.S.D. will have the chance to go through the Fire Safety House. They will get the chance to experience a home fire escape demonstration and learn about fire and injury prevention.

The house which is a trailer that travels around Texas, sponsored by the state fire marshal, has a kitchen, living room and bedroom. It's equipped with hot doors, a smoke simulator, and objects which can teach kids how to locate safe routes to escape a burning home. On Wednesday, it visited Hyde Park Elementary. It will visit Gold Rule Elementary.
Fire Marshall John Weda says the training could very well save a life.

"I hope this training that we give the kids, they never have to use, but just in case it ever comes down to it that they know how to do and know how to evacuate in an emergency like this. We hope it does save lives," said Weda.

After the demonstration, students will be given material to take home to their parents to help improve fire safety within their own homes.
