SHERMAN TX - The woman responsible for a fatal accident in Van Alstyne on February 1 is charged with intoxicated man slaughter.

Bobbi Jo Elvington was arrested shortly after that crash and remains in the Grayson County Jail.

If found guilty, she could face two to twenty years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

The Van Alstyne Police Department has completed their investigation of the accident and received Elvington's blood report that determined she was intoxicated when the fatal crash happened.

Elvington was driving her SUV the wrong way on U.S. Highway 75 in Van Alstyne when she slammed into another car head-on, killing the driver.

"It's really one of the more tragic cases I've seen the whole time I've been here. It really illustrates all the problems with drinking and driving, the affect you have on others and the death that occurred, but this lady is looking at serious prison time," Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown says.

Brown says prosecutors will meet with Elvington and her attorney to discuss the case, which could go to trial in the next couple of weeks.
