Heartland Flyer Hits Abandoned Pickup

(Purcell, Oklahoma-AP) -- An Amtrak train struck a pickup that
was abandoned on the tracks near Purcell, Oklahoma. No injuries were reported. Authorities are seeking the owner of the vehicle.

Amtrak says the Heartland Flyer was returning to Oklahoma City
from Fort Worth Thursday night when it struck a 1952 GMC truck left
at the intersection of two tracks.

The burning wreck was dragged for a quarter mile before the
train could stop. The train was delayed for nearly three hours while the wreckage was cleared from the track.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says there are no railroad
crossings in the area where the vehicle was abandoned.
