GRAYSON CO., TX - If you didn't cast your ballot in early voting for this year's primary, then Tuesday is the day. Polls open at 7:00 a.m., but preparations for the election have been months in the making.
Grayson County elections officials say it takes over 200 people to run Tuesday's gubernatorial election.
"It may look easy but it's not, it's work,” said Jo Ann Perkins, an elections judge.
And Grayson County Election Clerk Wilma Bush couldn’t agree more.
"It is a lot of work; it requires a lot of planning and preparation, a lot of organization.”
With early voting already under their belts, Perkins and Bush said they're ready for tomorrow, and are hoping for a better turn out than the 4,500 people who voted early.
"From early voting our numbers will probably double on Election Day so we're anticipating a good turn out on Tuesday,” said Bush.
The courthouse was busy Monday afternoon as election judges picked up their forms and supplies to prepare for tomorrow.
"Mainly we take care of the business of the voters and register them and mostly all day long that's what our process is about, just registering the voters that come into vote and see to it that they're well taken care of when they come in,” said Perkins as she picked up her election kit.
To vote in the primaries Tuesday, you must go to your precinct and declare a party to vote for, either Republican or Democrat
"In order for your candidate that you want to see progress on to the November ballot, it is important to cast their vote in the primary so they can get that nomination to move on to the November election,” said Bush.
She said as long as voters are in line by 7:00 p.m. tomorrow when polls close, your ballot will get counted.
"Come on out and vote, take advantage of the opportunity to let your voice be heard,” said Perkins.
They recommend if you have your voter’s registration card, to bring it because that will help speed up the process. But if you don’t have it, a driver’s license will also work.
Early voting results will be in shortly after 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. All other ballots will be tallied and posted later Tuesday night.
