Jail Opening Delayed

6-30-04 The opening of the remodeled Bryan county jail will be delayed for a few weeks. It was supposed to open on Thursday, but the state jail inspector has not certified the 20 jail employees. So until they pass the state tests the jail can't open. Construction on the 61-bed facility is done though including surveillance cameras...and even a visitor area...unlike the old one.
They will hold an open house for the new jail on July 9th from eight in the morning until seven that night.
