Jones Found Guilty of Manslaughter

06-30-04 - Kristi Jones has been found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Whitesboro jeweler Jon McCullough. The jury deliberated more than five hours today before reaching the verdict.

Jones was charged with murder in the case, but received the lesser charge of manslaughter. Closing arguments ended today around noon. During deliberations jurors asked for the 911 tapes from the murder along with the testimony of two detectives.

Jon McCullough was killed last July when an argument broke out between Kristi Jones and his sister in law. Jones claimed she shot McCullough in self-defense. The prosecution says the death stems from bad blood between the two and that Jones intended to kill McCullough.
