DENISON, TX -- A Denison woman will stay with family after the chimney in her home caught fire Wednesday evening.

Denison firefighters responded to 74 Butterfield after neighbors saw smoke coming from the home.

The victim says she started a fire in her fireplace when she heard a large bang and noticed flames.

Denison firefighters quickly contained the fire, but say there is severe damage to the home and the woman wouldn't be able to stay there Wednesday evening.

The homeowner says she's glad she was able to get herself and her cat out safely.
